He Whose Foot is Gored

An image from Total Fest 2014 of He Whose Ox is Gored. What it doesn't depict is the band member with a splint on his ankle. Thus the story goes......... while loading in the guitarist when navigating the narrow stairwell with a full cab slipped and the amp landed on his foot. To note again this happened while loading in to play. Watching the aftermath, dude was in some serious pain. At which point one local hero came to aid riding his bike home to grab a splint they had.  They returned and splinted the foot and about 15 minutes later He Whose Ox is Gored took the stage. After playing the band went straight to the hospital and found out guitarist Brian McClellan broke two bones in four places in his foot...... This Tuesday April 4th He Whose Ox is Gored comes back to the Palace. Doors open at 9

Also, here is a teaser for a show coming up in May.....

7+7=7 MUSIC SERIES

Last year was a hiatus in releases for MBR but 2014 is going to be crazy. Releases from Bird's Mile Home, King Elephant, Black Sparrow Press/ The Plurals split, Total Combined Weight, Mega Giant, Shahs, Needlecraft and more are in the works. Records are back, some are at press, some are mastered some are being mixed but it's looking to be a FANtastic year for us

In 2013, Ambassador Gun put out a record on Prosthetic Records titled "Golden Eagle". Tacocat  worked out a relationship with Hardly Art out of Seattle and release "NVM" on Valentines Day.

King Elephant
The Plurals

Bird's Mile Home

Megagiat

Minor Bird Records will be starting a series of releases called 7+7=7. Releases from Billings' Mega Giant and Missoula's Total Combined Weight and Holy Lands. We are hoping to keep this an ongoing this and release stuff 2 to 3 times a year in accord with this series. The concept is to release 7 songs for 7 dollars and then follow this up with a 7 inch vinyl record with download. We need your help to make this ongoing so click the megagiant link on the right column and order the cd or cassette.

As well as releasing Megagiant's today (and everyday) as in the last post we are releasing Bird's Mile Home's April in Goddamn. This is also available for preorder currently.

Well keep up on the posts as we have more info, records and shows to announce soon.

Releases, Shows and more

Spring has turned into summer and Missoula has been exciting thus far and there is so much more to come. We have seen some pretty rad shows come through and are stoked for what's to come.

Two Cow Garage

April in God Damn
Two cow Garage played in June with the return of Bird's Mile Home. Bird's Mile has reenlisted their original drummer, Jesse, and is now set to release April in God Damn very soon. April in God Damn is a five track amped up album reminiscent of their live set. The first self titled LP was came out and showed all of what these lads can do. This is how anyone who has seen them regularly know them… release date to come soon. You can pre order it by clicking the image of the record on the side bar.

King Elephant "Exhaust"

So GDBH was pretty epic and we may just have to repress the "is Rez Punk" 7" at some point. You should contact us and let us know if this should be done. So now the boys are getting older and Joey and Booster went on to form King Elephant with their friend Ryan. Missoula's Ethan J Uhl joined shortly their after. KE is one of Missoula's best live punk bands and this record is no short coming. Exhaust is anthemic, rough and melodic all at once.

Joey and Lauren (BTJR)
We had Benny the Jet Rodriguez come through town with a new record on Todd from FYP and Toys that Kill's Recess record label. After seeing them at Total Fest XII we were stoked to have them come back through. What is exciting here is that Joey Centofanti is also in a band called Black Sparrow Press. We are releasing a limited version of a split 7 between Black Sparrow Press and Lansing Michigan's The Plurals. The Plurals tend to tour regularly and most likely have come very close to your town. Keep watch as they will most likely be on the road in the fall.

The Plurals/Black Sparrow Press limited edition of 100 hand pulled silk screen cover version

We will be posting up some more news shortly, more releases, shows and news.

A Punk Rock Summer in Missoula

TUESDAY JULY 23RD

@The Badlander

208 Ryman St. - Missoula, MT

STABBED IN BACK

CONVALESCENTS

THE LOPEZ

BUDDY JACKSON

9 pm Live and local night

For those of us who were not lucky enough to go to The Fest and possibly catch Stabbed in Back here is your chance. SIB feature Tim who played drums in the band The Lillingtons and toured with The Eyeliners.  SIB are aggressive yet melodic punk with  and edgier vocals than you would come to expect when hearing the term melodic with punk. Check them out using the link above or the video below. Bill Stevenson was at the helm of their new recording. These guys are constantly mentioned in the vein of OFF and Strike Anywhere.

Big Eyes in the wake of Sled Island

Calgary Aberta was hit with a flood and have suggested the evacuation of over 100,000 people. With the ensuing catastrophe this years Sled Island Festival came to a halt and bands were left scrambling as well. As with our friends in Minot, ND we send out our sympathy to all the people that are put out and unfortunate.

Big Eyes from Seattle who played Zoo City Apparel at last years Total Fest are heading back home and have decided to stop in Missoula and play at The ZACC Beleow. Here is a link to their Sled Island announcement:
